Job Title: Manager Technology Solutions-Wholesale Fixed Connectivity

Reporting to: General Manager Wholesale and Carrier Services

Division – Technology

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

  • To play a key leadership role in customer retention, long-term success and business profitability through strategic Product development, Life cycle management & product support, by enabling the most valuable and cost-efficient Technology solutions to local, regional and international network operators, in regard to Leased Backhaul Services, IP Transit Services, and other IT Platforms capabilities and capacities.
  • Main Job Functions:

     

  • Defining the solutions/products/services strategy and communicating these both internally and externally. Develop short and long-range technology business solutions goals, objectives and operations plans.
  • Drive the implementation of technological solutions that enables high QoS and ensures that SLAs are met.
  • Manage product lifecycles and ensure on-time services delivery.
  • Creation of new products & bundling of solutions to support customer business requirements.
  • Identify value propositions to the market that can be realized by existing network infrastructure & designs.
  • Understand the overall ICT needs of the licensed network operators and consistently seek to build systems and processes that deliver on the customer’s underlying needs
  • Coordinate and work with multiple engineering/ projects teams for the Managing and planning of programs, projects and tasks aimed to deliver business solutions
  • Minimize CAPEX and OPEX spending in technology in collaboration with the CTO, CIO and their teams
  • Assist in the preparation of the Business Solutions Business Plan, by preparing the departmental budget and business plan; identifying CAPEX/OPEX requirements, operational and personnel requirements to achieve strategic objectives
  • Derivation of trends in performance from statistics as well as from customer complaints so as to provide long term solutions to problems identified
  • Develop and test new wholesale products and applications to suit anticipated customer needs
  •  
  • Work hand in hand with the transmission and IP planning teams to develop and draft technical designs and solution documents for customer requirements.
  • Act as technical lead in wholesale fixed connectivity services implementation projects and manage wholesale projects that are not run by the capital projects team.
  • Provide post technical support to wholesale customers in order to enhance growth and retention
  • Prepare Motivations for CAPEX Spend as per MTN Procedures.
  • Negotiate service delivery dates and resource plans with internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with internal process improvement initiatives for the sales, delivery & support of Operator-led Solutions.
  • Present technical capabilities to prospective customers and existing customer base, and influence customer expectations according to product and network management capabilities and constraints,
  • Assist internal stakeholders with understanding the products and provide system automation, networking and customer support for the suite of products that make up the environment.
  • Follow up and verification of SLA of products and services delivered
  • Interact with Network, IT functions and the Data Support Teams for the follow up of clients and to ensure a better quality of service to clients as per the signed Contracts and SLAs.
  • Ensure flawless technical support to customers
  • Responsible for the Interface & coordination with Network, Technology and Procurement groups

Qualifications

 

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Education:

  • Communications/Electrical/Telecoms Engineering /Computer Science Degree (BSc/Masters level)
  • Business qualification is relevant.
  • ICT Industry Certifications are relevant

Experience:

  • 7+ years of Experience of IT & Telecoms Services Delivery with clear understanding of Telco dynamics, Fibre Installation and Communications, ISP & Data Centre business drivers, challenges and delivery strategies.
  • Strong understanding of technology services & infrastructure
  • Project Management skills
