Job Title: Senior Accountant – Group Opco-Fintech Finance

Reporting to: General Manager – Financial Operations

Dotted Reporting line to – Chief Financial Officer – Group Fintech

Division – Financial Operations

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

Review all assigned Opcos Escrow/Trust account reconciliation.
Review all assigned Opcos revenues and liquidation in line with group standards.
Review of all agent commission payments (subscriber registration, commission, Assisted payment commission, DST payments).
Supervision of the Analyst Financial Operations.

Main Job Functions:

Review daily bank reconciliation and recommend immediate corrective action.
Ensure end to end follow up on all reconciling items in Trust bank reconciliation.
Review of weekly journal captured to ensure they are properly accounted for and authorised.
Review of weekly restricted cash in Opcos business to ensure it reconciles with the General Ledger.
Ensure that MTN Fintech transaction revenues are reconciled, recognized, liquidated, and posted correctly in General Ledger.
Ensure that agent commissions are reconciled, reviewed, and paid within agreed timelines.
Validate and ensure all Journal posted in EWP and ERP system are authorized as per DOA and posted accurately.
Support with review of Opco Business cases and update product finance risks.
Ensure all assigned Opcos have in place all the finance processes in place that align to group standards.
Ensure that all incidences logged for Fintech action are resolved within 48 hours.
Supervision of Finance Analyst staff.
Ensure Audit recommendations are followed up and objectively closed.
Oversee reconciliation of all system accounts.
Authorise the posting of all ERP entries raised by the team supervised.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Commerce or equivalent combination of applicable education and experience required.
Possession of professional courses like ACCA and CPA is most desirable.

Experience:

3 years’ experience as an accountant.
Knowledge of process and financial control
Fintech regulation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Risk management and control improvement within a Fintech product and infrastructure environment.

Knowledge & Training:

Digital Financial Services

Good knowledge of Fintech Fraud
Knowledge of Fintech business processes
Excellent organisational skills
Group accounting policies and procedures
Basic risk management skills
Ability to transfer skills
A good working knowledge in office automation tools: Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, SQL.
Understanding of Fintech registration and liquidation procedures
Knowledge of current and relevant legislation
Familiar with MTN Fintech products and services
Added advantage ; data reconciliation and usage analysis.
