Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences; or Guidance and Counselling; or Community Psychology; or Psychology from a recognized University / Institution.
Working Experience
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Psychological Social Worker for performing the following duties:-
– Supporting implementation of guidance and counselling programs for both inmates and staff;
– Reviewing and updating programs which promote prisoners and staff access to guidance and counselling services;
– Providing one-to-one guidance to motivate counselees to engage in and take an active role in their personal rehabilitation and social development;
– Identifying individual needs using a variety of techniques including guidance interviews; psychometric assessment and other evaluative instruments;
– Participating in the review and development of guidance plans to ensure continued relevance to the ever-changing needs of the inmates and prisons staff;
– Supporting implementation of sensitization and training sessions for junior staff and inmates about the importance of guidance and counselling services;
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
