World Vision Uganda (WVU) is a Christian relief, development and advocacy non-government organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. We currently work in 43 districts and have 48 Area Programmes implementing projects in health & nutrition, water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), livelihoods & resilience, education and child protection. World Vision (WV) is committed to the protection of children and adult beneficiaries from exploitation and abuse and will not employ people whose background is not suitable for working with these beneficiaries. All employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of all applicable background checks, including criminal record checks where possible.

Due to expansion in scope of our programmes, we are now seeking for a qualified and passionate individual willing to share in our vision and join the team in the following role.

 

Position:         Marketing Officer

Report to:       Associate Director – Communications

Location:        Kampala – National Office

 

Advert Start Date:     29th May 2023

Advert End Date:       5th June 2023

 

Purpose of the position:

 

The job holder will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Communications, Marketing and Local Resource Mobilisation Strategy.  S/he will contribute significantly to the WVU digital and social media plans to; broaden national awareness of WVU programmes.  S/he will work to position WV as a leading humanitarian organisation and a source of evidence-based interventions in Health and Nutrition, Child Protection, Education, Resilience and Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.

S/he will build, nurture and retain Local donor relationships with individuals, institutions, Foundations and Associations.

In order to perform this role effectively, s/he must be able to effectively communicate and demonstrate World Vision’s Vision, Mission and Values.

 

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.

 

Business Development -Local Resource Mobilisation

  • Support the Director-Communications and Marketing on following up commitments with identified Local Partnership prospect organisations and institutions to mobilise resources for WVU development projects.
  • Develop strong and effective working relationships with partner organisations.
  •  Ensure timely, effective and efficient project implementation of locally funded/supported projects.
  •  Monitor and evaluate progress and impact of the Public-Private Partnerships relationships/projects and their contribution to the National Office objectives.
  • Support documentation and reporting for locally funded projects.
  • Support coordination of Local Resource Mobilisation and marketing Events.

 

Customer data management –Individual donors

  • Support to set up a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform for individual donors or supporters.
  • In conjunction with communications, develop a resource base of influential Registered Children Alumni, produce documentaries where their life stories are documented and used for marketing purposes.
  • In conjunction with communication and the programme teams, identify potential stories of need for marketing.

 

Digital  & Social Media Communications

  • Support the Associate Director, Communications to implement the WVU Digital and Social Media plan.
  • Support to consolidate WVU’s digital activity, ensuring that all social media and website content is aligned, reinforces predetermined advocacy or marketing messages and reaches WVU audiences and stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to WVI’s global branding guidelines both in style and content.
  • Work to continuously grow WVU social media following, conversion rates and digital impact within World Vision and external networks.

 

Content: Stories and documentaries

  • Develop a database of documentaries, pictures and stories for use as and when an opportunity arises
  • Work with mainstream media to broadcast WVU life transforming stories for purposes of visibility

 

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.

  • A minimum of 3 years in a marketing field.
  • High level of cross-cultural interpersonal skill, personal maturity, and proven ability to influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and communications skills.
  • Have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with abilities to confidently work with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Social Media Management: Should be familiar with social media diverse platforms and know how to create and schedule posts, monitor engagement, and track analytics.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Must be available for significant in country field travel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business management, Communication or Public Relations or related field from recognised University.
  • Skills in diverse digital communications with demonstrated ability to keep up with trends
  • Graphic Designing:  Proficiency in using graphic design software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc., to create visual assets like banners, infographics, and social media posts.
  • Technical experience with video and still photography production.
