POSITION                        :             LOCUM-CARE AND TREATMENT OFFICER

REPORTING TO               :             CARE AND TREATMENT MANAGER

DIRECTORATE                 :             PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT

Major Function:

Provide HIV related technical support to health care workers at supported HFs in assessment, diagnosis & clinical care of all patients

Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. Provide technical assistance and mentorship for health workers in HIV/AIDS care
  2. Provide continuous clinical mentoring in all areas including reporting for all related MoH reports
  3. Support and participate in a Continuous Medical Education (CME) programs for all staff Support coordination of health education talks in HIV/AIDS related fields
  4. Lead and strengthen quality improvement activities in all HIV/AIDS related fields at all facilities
  5. Monitor the implementation of strategies and systems for strengthening HF to improve ART/ant-TB initiation, treatment and outcome monitoring through case conference, mortality and as well as increasing ART facility coverage through HF assessment for accreditation especially in underserved geographical areas and populations in line MoH guidelines.
  6. Provide technical support during the development and monitoring the implementation of periodic IBC, PMP, health facility PMPs in alignment to all project(s) objectives using CQI approach then produce consolidated periodic reports to key stakeholders in line with UPMB/ IBC mandate.
  7.  Provide technical support in rational use of medical commodities, documentation of consumption as well as laboratory performance in the MHF.
  1. Establish/strengthen collaboration/partnership with other key district stakeholders involved in provision of HIV related services and as well as monitor the implementation of strategies for community mobilization and advocacy for all project in the district.
  2. Provide technical support to the key stakeholders in monitoring the implementation of strategies for strengthening client linkage & referral system to increase demand for comprehensive services and a functional patient tracking system for retention purposes.

Xi    Participate in operational research through development of abstracts, manuscripts and case reports and disseminate findings in liaison with the Grants and Research Office Any other assigned duties in line with your roles.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Dip. In Clinical medicine or Nursing
  • At least three years in HIV-Care and treatment
