LOAN SUPERVISOR

Job Summary:

The Loan Supervisor’s primary objective is to ensure that they, through a team of loan Officers assigned to them, manage a good quality loan portfolio in line with the company policies and procedures.

S/he is responsible to ensure discipline in their team, adherence to company policies, monitoring on a daily basis and ensuring proper and timely analysis, mentoring and reporting.

The Loan Supervisor is a management team leader of the branch and is expected to lead by example and be the face for the company in the protection of company assets.

 

KEY AREAS OF FOCUS

  • Growth of loan portfolio, increase in number of borrowers with a reduction in PAR to standards of below 8%
  • Achievement of monthly set targets
  • Balance in sales for all Tujijenge products
  • Reduction in written-off loans
  • Timely and accurate reporting

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 Credit Management

  • Review daily monitoring reports, make necessary changes where possible and submit them to accounts for posting
  • Be part of the Branch Credit Committee member and branch guide in making rational decisions geared at branch growth.
  • Analyze, review and recommend for approval or rejection of all loans at Branch office approval jurisdiction in line with the credit and lending policies.
  • Review and under study Tujijenge’s credit lines for the purposes of correcting any inadequacies according to the market in line with Tujijenge’s policies and procedures.
  • Promote all Tujijenge Products as well as client’s needs are satisfied through proper market segmentation.
  • Ensure marketing materials for the products are availed to the branch to support growth and sales.
  • Manage client recruitment, selection, Training and assessment process.
  • Grow the portfolio to the required set targets as agreed upon in the strategic plan.

 

Training and Team Development

  • Nature Loan officers to perform better for career growth and development
  • Initiate training needs assessment; train, guide and mentor credit personnel on credit assessment, monitoring and delinquency management in line with Tujijenge’s policies and procedures
  • Motivate and ensure a highly efficient workforce. Build teams to ensure they are united and work in line with Tujijenge culture.
  • Oversee, monitor, mentor and guide a team of Loan Officers in the delivery of good quality financial products and services to ensure a good quality, productive workforce with good customer service.

 

Performance Management

  • Regularly engage with your cluster teams to discuss the day’s performance progress, challenges encountered and come up with solutions to the problems
  • Prepare timely staff performance evaluation reports for the staff and make any relevant recommendations to the branch manager in line with Tujijenge’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure performance appraisal exercise is conducted in a fair way to avoid demotivation of the staff.
  • Ensure participation in decision-making against any good/underperforming staff in your respective cluster.

 

Compliance Management

  • Ensure cluster discipline and abidance to company policies and procedures, initiate and take corrective action when need arises.
  • All staff to comply to the lending policies and procedures for both group and individual clients stipulated in the lending manuals
  • Be part of the Branch Credit committee member and as part of the branch management safeguard Tujijenge’s policies and procedures

 

Cluster Delinquency Management

  • Ensure groups and individual clients are monitored and daily loan officer monitoring reports should be sent to your supervisor.
  • Keenly examine all loan applications and ensure the adequacy and completeness of pre loan eligibility requirements. Client screening criteria, collateral and loan approval authority levels must be fulfilled.
  • Actively monitor loan repayments to ensure they are within the acceptable due dates
  • Ensure regular audits and spots checks are done to track any fraudulent practices
  • Design strategies and action plans for recovery of delinquent loans and transform them into active good ones that are standard in line with Tujijenge’s policies and procedures.
  • Initiate and design analytical delinquency monitoring and tracking tools for portfolio quality management in line with Tujijenge’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean branch portfolio of not more than 8% 1 day.
  • Work with court bailiffs to ensure reported cases are handled promptly and recoveries done in line with the statutory laws and Tujijenge policies and procedures.

Customer care Management

  • Regularly review and resolve client queries and complaints in order to maintain quality service delivery in the branch.
  • Ensure high loan processing speed and quick feedback to customers to keep their motivation
  • Adhere to the ten rules of customer care service

 

Cluster reporting

  • Evaluate performance of the loan portfolio both growth and quality, generate and submit weekly and monthly reports to the Branch Manager/ Regional Manager.
  • Closely monitor non-performing loans and provide periodic status report to compliance and debt recovery Manager.
  • Respond to emails on daily basis to internal and external people as they may require
  • Disseminate relevant communication to teams at all times to enable them be up to date with the institutions plans and activities. Provide a link between the cluster members and Tujijenge departmental heads.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a diploma in business studies of Accounting, Finance, Economics and any other related field of study.
  • Two principle passes at A level with Credits in Math and English.
  • A sound knowledge of microfinance and principles and practices of banking
  • Two year’s working experience with Micro-finance institutions, the Banking sector or lending institutions.
