The World Health Organization, Uganda Country Office is looking for a qualified and competent Ugandan national to fill the following vacant position:
BACKGROUND
Uganda in prone to outbreak prone diseases. Experiences with recent and ongoing public health emergencies, including Ebola virus disease (EVD) and coronavirus disease (COVID-19), highlight the critical role of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in the preparedness, readiness, and response efforts for emerging and re-emerging pathogens. There is need to strengthen the IPC capacity for readiness and response in the country at all times.
Healthcare facilities can amplify emerging infectious diseases transmission within facilities, communities, and across borders; evidence-based IPC measures in healthcare facilities are critical for preventing and containing outbreaks while still delivering safe, effective and quality health care. Investing in IPC capacity at the national and healthcare facility level will mitigate healthcare-associated transmission risk and contribute to the timely outbreak containment. Strengthening IPC preparedness and readiness will lead to responses that are more robust, contain outbreaks and avert health systems from getting overwhelmed.
