| UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
UN Women Uganda in its Strategic Note 2016-2020 and revised in 2019 in line UNDAF, NDP II and Uganda vision 2040 in supporting national priorities on Gender Equality and Womens’ empowerment among other normative frameworks, as well as the follow-up and implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides coherent support to Government, Parliament, Academia, indigenous and women´s organizations, justice system and UN entities, through providing upstream policy and programme advise, promoting a human rights-based approach to achieve sustainable development, improving national systems, sharing of good practices and lessons learned, strengthening normative and operational linkages, and promoting South-South cooperation. In this mandate, the role of UN Women Representative is key in ensuring that the above are achieved. To this end, the Uganda Country office envisages bringing on board additional staff in the year 2021 to support with the implementation of the above. With the growth of human resources in Kampala and sub-offices in Gulu, Moroto, Adjumani, and Mbarara having a dedicated HR focal person will ensure efficient and timely human resource support in all areas of recruitment; leave management, performance management and learning and development. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Human Resources Associate will work under the technical guidance of the Regional HR Specialist in Regional Office. The Human Resource (HR) Associate is responsible for administratively and logistically supporting the recruitment and placement, administration of benefits and entitlements of staff and local external contractors, other HR administration issues and separation of personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities |

1. Administer and implement HR strategies and policies in CO in full compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, and HR policies and guidelines
2. Provide HR administrative and logistical services to CO and region in full compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, and HR policies and guidelines
3. Facilitate and coordinate recruitment processes in full compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, and HR policies and guidelines
4. Provide administrative support to staff performance management and learning and development in full compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, and HR policies and guidelines
5. Maintain data in relation to HR in full compliance with UN Women rules, regulations, and HR policies and guidelines
6. Facilitate knowledge building and knowledge sharing globally
