General Summary
The Infectious Diseases Institute received funding from the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to implement a project, Strengthening Partnerships for Preparedness and Response in Uganda under the Global Health Security Department. The goal of this project is to Protect and Improve Health Globally: Building and Strengthening Public Health Impact, Systems, Capacity and Security. One of the components under the Project, Emergency Response is aimed at rapidly strengthening emergency response systems for COVID-19 aligned to the National COVID-19 Resurgence Plan. The purpose of this recruitment is to deploy volunteers with outbreak response experience across different disciplines to contribute to this objective.
The main responsibility is to support the Mulago COVID-19 center in the review of and operationalization of the laboratory COVID-19 M&E plan; support roll out of paper-based and electronic systems for collecting, tracking, analyzing, and reporting progress on the COVID-19 laboratory response; generate routine summaries and monitor dashboards for tracking progress on implementation of interventions against targets and key milestones, preparation of daily reports and summaries for the Laboratory superintendent; review reports to ensure that data provided is reliable and accurate; provision of technical expertise to generate and analyze quality evidence and data through monitoring, assessments, and evaluations; receive and review district reports, monitoring of ODK data reporting, provision of M&E training and technical assistance as need may arise.
Key Responsibilities
- To support the Mulago COVID-19 Unit to review of and operationalization of the laboratory COVID-19 M&E plan.
- Daily reporting at National and district levels (Key performance indicators) and data sharing at National Level (IMT, EOC)
- Support roll out of paper-based and electronic systems for collecting, tracking, analyzing, and reporting progress on the COVID-19 laboratory response.
- Generate routine summaries and monitor dashboards for tracking progress on implementation of interventions against targets and key milestones, preparation of daily reports and summaries to the laboratory Superintendent
- Review reports to ensure that data provided is reliable and accurate; provision of technical expertise to generate and analyze quality evidence and data through monitoring, assessments, and evaluations
- Monitoring of ODK data reporting, provision of M&E training and technical assistance as need may arise.
- Any other duties assigned.
Person Specification
Educational requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Statistics, computer science or any other data management related course
Working Experience, knowledge & skills
- Experience of 1 year working in the health information systems.
- Experience and knowledge in DHIS2, ODK, eLIF among others
- Knowledgeable on HMIS tools (Electronic and paper based)
