  Job Purpose:  
  To prepare and review the commissions legal cases, instruments and documents and to carry out research in order to provide advice that protects the commissions interests  
  Primary Tasks/Responsibilities  
  1.     To carry out legal research relating to the Commission’s operations.

2.     To prepare legal opinions and participate in the provision of legal advice in respect of the day-to-day operations of the Commission.

3.     To represent the Commission in court cases which are not sourced to external lawyers.

4.     To prepare contracts/agreements, legal documents/instruments arising out of the operations of the Commission.

5.     To liaise with the insurance service providers in claim settlement and follow up insurance claims by the Commission, staff and third parties claiming compensation from the commission.

6.     In conjunction with other Directorates, participate in review and negotiations of licenses and

agreements, and processes leading to the resolution of disputes relating to the Commission’s operations.

7.     To provide input into proposed regulatory frameworks and Guidelines as deemed necessary for the effective regulation of the sector.

8.     To coordinate and participate in all dispute resolution proceedings such as arbitration, Mediation, Reconciliation in respect of licensing and licensed operators.

9.     To ensure adequate insurance coverage of the Commission’s assets and its other risks as part of UCC’s risk management strategy; and

  Education and Professional qualifications
  •        A Master’s Degree in Law

•        A Bachelor’s degree in Law

•        Diploma in Legal practice; and

•        An enrolled advocate of the High Court of Uganda

  Working Experience 
   Four (4) years’ experience in legal practice in a similar corporate setting.
