The position
Project Background
AKF and World University Service of Canada (WUSC), in partnership with Global Affairs Canada, will be implementing a four-year project to increase the agency and self-empowerment of adolescent girls and female youth in Moyo and Obongi. The Adolescent Girls’ Education in Crisis Initiative (AGENCI) will impact the lives of 148,000 adolescent girls and female youth aged 10-24 by promoting improved equitable learning outcomes in primary and secondary schools including non-school learning programmes. AGENCI will respond to specific barriers and educational needs identified by adolescent girls, female youth, community members, and other education stakeholders to address the root causes of inequality and support transform of structurally entrenched social norms, attitudes, and power relations that limit girls’ ability to access and benefit from education. AGENCI will implement evidence-based programming and incubate locally driven solutions and innovations working in partnership with schools, communities, government and civil society organisations (CSOs).
AKF is currently seeking a competent and motivated individual to fill the position of Project Officer – Information Communications Technology. The incumbent will play a technical role in supporting project stakeholders on the project’s ICT components which will utilise both mobile software and mobile applications for use in teacher professional development, classroom teaching and learning, school mentorship and monitoring. The Project Officer-ICT will be based in Moyo district and will report to the AKF MERL Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the computer software and mobile applications introduced through the project.
- In coordination with the Project staff provide ongoing support to district education officials and schools to address ICT related issues.
- Orient the school leaders, teachers and local and national governments on the PROMISE3 App
- Support the education stakeholders to utilise the data generated from PROMISE3 for planning and budgeting.
- the Work closely with the project MERL team to set up project level MIS
- Establish community feedback loops to ensure they are used in program improvement. Be responsible for all data management needs under the PROMISE3 app
- Work closely with district education offices and AKF’s M&E team to implement mobile school performance monitoring platform.
- Support the collection and documentation of project results, including the effective documentation of lessons learnt and report to various stakeholders
- Support coordination and integration with other AKF projects in West Nile.
- Participate in data entry into the online technologies in M&E including the Awards Information Management System (AIMS), Global Reach System (GRS), PROMISE3 among others
The requirements
Minimum qualifications and experience
- A recognized degree in ICT or related field.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in ICT management and facilitation skills.
- At least 2 years of relevant education sector experience.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis.
- Good report writing skills.
- Ability to meet strict delivery deadlines and produce results.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
