The USAID’s Maternal Child Health and Nutrition (USAID MCHN) Activity is a five-year program designed and funded by USAID/Uganda to improve maternal, newborn, child health and nutrition outcomes in Uganda through strengthening leadership and governance, the rollout of national strategies and programs, and coordination and cooperation across stakeholders.

Purpose: As part of USAID MCHN’s ongoing technical assistance in strengthening the immunization platform in Kampala City, FHI 360 desires to recruit 10 short-term Locum Immunization Officers to closely work with designated vaccination site teams to optimize integration of COVID-19 vaccination into routine immunization services by identifying and addressing.

Duration: 120 working days

Duty station: Kampala

Responsibilities

  • Closely work with vaccination teams at designated vaccination sites to ensure that all required inputs are available and there is strict adhere to the Ministry of Health Standards and Standing Operation Procedures (SOPs) for COVID-19 vaccine administration that is layered on the traditional immunization platform
  • Closely work with KCCA structures to identify vaccination site level capacity building needs and coordinate and manage efforts to appropriately address the needs, closely working with relevant KCCA and MOH structures
  • Support processes for ensuring that data for vaccination activities is correctly entered in registers and reported to the ministry of health reporting system
  • Provide ongoing technical, logistics and coordination support to vaccination teams to engage with ad mobilize targeted population groups to take up the vaccine

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Diploma or Degree in Nursing or clinical medicine from a recognized Institution.
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional body
  • Should have working experience in active clinical service for at least three (3) years – preferably in public and for private healthcare facilities in Kampala
