Enterprise Digitalization consultant –

General Summary

 

The Enterprise Digitalization consultant (EDC) understands the importance of using digital platforms to enhance achievement of IDI’s objectives and strategic direction. S/he will design and lead IDI’s long-term road map for digitization and re-engineering of business processes and program implementation/delivery support in partnership with the senior management team (SMT) members, Information services (IS) department, user staff and beneficiaries. The consultant will drive concept development, supervise implementation, and manage program testing—with the ultimate goal of establishing more effective business processes and programs, improving efficiency and cost savings and simplifying operations. S/he is responsible for converting a wide range of daily operations, workflows and activities to digital formats/processes; overseeing implementation and alignment of concurrent digitization projects, integrating custom developed solutions as well as commercial products, providing quality assurance for all operations, and ensuring standards and best practices are followed. S/he will report administratively to the Executive Director (ED) and functionally to a Digitalization Committee headed by a selected Senior Management Team member.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Keeps abreast of digital initiatives, emerging standards, projects and activities on a national, regional, and international level; Identifies digital transformation opportunities based on a thorough understanding of IDI financial  and programmatic goals  on one hand and digital technologies applicable to IDI business processes and program activities on the other hand
  • Works with the BoD, SMT, IS  and administrative and program staff  to drive consensus  and determine and document digitalization  priorities ; develop and implement new digital technology capabilities for IDI with value-adding scalable use cases
  • Defines scope and plans for digitalization activities necessary to achieve short term, medium terms and long term goals; develops methods and procedures, and works with staff and developers to draw up automation plans that can improve activities and  workflows
  • Produces, monitors , meets and reports annual digitalization plans and goals; defines quality standards of expected outcomes
  • Estimates workloads, budgets, and develops  schedules for digitization projects and activities
  • Analyses risks to digitization projects  and designs measures for dealing with changes in their  scope
  • Plans and directs the work of multiple in-house and vendor projects and activities to implement digitalization activities that meet departmental-level and organization-level  goals and priorities; ensures continuously evolving  user insights and analytics to inform ongoing activities
  • Develops, implements and documents a quality assurance program for all digitalization  efforts
  • Monitors, evaluates  and  improves workflows and procedures for efficiency through digitalization ; produces progress reports for management
  • Identifies gaps and trains (personally or through third parties) and supervises staff  who manage digital platforms  to achieve expected digitalization objectives; Creates training materials; provides and maintains technical and procedural documentation and may recommend hires to fill specific gaps
  • Participates as a member of the IDI’s  IS team in meetings and  activities that have a bearing on digitalization efforts
  • Develops a people system, including assigning roles and responsibilities,  for digitization efforts  to be institutionalized to meet  emerging IDI needs over the longer term

 

Desirable skills & qualities:

  • Proven competences in innovation, strategic or visionary thinking, agile methodologies, and people management
  • Ability to build and manage a strong network internally and externally with software and other technology partners with strong cloud, digital, AI, cybersecurity and analytics capabilities.
  •  Business know-how, especially an understanding of how each project affects the organization’s short and long-term financial and programmatic goals
  • Proven competences in stakeholder, business process and business process alignment, need analysis, customer focus, and result focus, delivery and people management.
  • Proven ability to understand digital technologies and their potential application and translate those into opportunities, cases, needs, and implementation roadmaps
  • Knowledge and experience of project management methodologies. Ability to draw up work schedules and delegate tasks effectively, manage time and other resources to meet with, communicate effectively, negotiate and build relationships
  •  Prior experience working with and managing third-party service providers and directly & routinely interacting with senior managers is preferred

 

Person Specification

 

  • Master’s Degree in computer science, Information Technology or equivalent certification or experience is required; Certification in enterprise architecture frameworks is an added advantage
  • 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, 3+ years strong focus on Digital transformation projects and business process re-engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in people and ICT management.
