Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering; or Environmental Sciences or any other Water Sciences from a recognized University / Institution.
Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Environment Office for performing the following duties:-
– Supporting the formulation and review of national policies, legislations and strategies on wetlands management;
– Setting standards for wetlands management;
– Supporting the coordination and supervision of national projects on wetlands management;
– Supporting the coordination and harmonisation of wetland management activities carried out by the various local governments and other actors in the sub-sector;
– Supporting the inspection, monitoring and evaluation of activities of local governments and other actors to ensure compliance with the national standards, policies and plans;
– Supporting design, development and maintenance of a national wetlands master plan and a national wetlands information system;
– Supporting the development, testing and promotion of scientific knowledge base for optimal wetlands management;
– Providing technical advice, support supervision and training within the area of wetlands management sub-sector;
– Serving as an administrative Authority and a national focal point for the coordination and implementation of the Ramsar Convention on wetlands and other relevant international and Regional Agreements and Protocols;
– Providing administrative and technical support to the National Wetlands Advisory Group (NWAG) and the National Ramsar Committee (NRC)
– Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
