Scope of the position
The Research and Learning Manager is a specialist in Justice and Rule of Law, responsible to develop and implement the learning strategy in Eastern Africa. This includes to develop, consolidate and disseminate the thematic, technical and practical knowledge necessary to the realization of ASF’s strategic objectives at regional and country levels.
The learning strategy is deployed through research processes, as well as support to Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems, and any other form of learning.
Profile
The ideal candidate will be a justice/rule of Law specialist, with a background in research
(academic and/or field research). Command of M&E systems is a strong asset but is not the primary criteria for the position. Criteria include:
– Bachelor of Arts or Master’s (or higher degree) in Social Sciences or Law
– At least 5 years of relevant experience in project research and/or knowledge management in the sectors of Justice and Rule of Law
– In depth understanding of research methodology, capacity building and training
techniques
– Understanding of monitoring and evaluation system tools and familiarity with social
science research methods
– Ability to work in multicultural environments
– Professional experience in the African Great Lakes’ region is an asset
– Languages: Fluency in spoken and written French and English is required
