Quality management systems officer – Mukwano Industries Uganda Limited

REPORTING TO HEAD – COMPLIANCE, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL;

1. Develop the structural framework for development of management systems.
2. Interpret the respective standards, legislation and statutes.
3. In liaison with HR department organize and raise general awareness in the organization on the respective International Standards.
4. Facilitate the documentation process of individual procedures in all processes/departments of the organization.
5. Ensure that all the developed documents are fully controlled within the management
6. Train and monitor the internal auditors for the management systems
7. Schedule, communicate and facilitate/carry out periodical internal audits/evaluations of the respective management system.
8. Prepare and issue statistical reports on the results of the internal systems audit i.e. non – conformities, observations, internal audits, activities of the section as required from time to time.
9. Follow up on the proposed corrective action plans, advise process owners and close out findings with the implemented action plans.
10. Carry out periodical HACCP studies/risk assessments for food handling areas.
11. Together with the food safety team members develop food safety activity schedules.
12. Carry out improvement projects for systems and routines within the quality function.
13. Make adequate preparations to facilitate external auditors on ISO auditing
14. Review and update respective Standard Operating Procedures.
15. Periodically visit plants/process locations and liaise with line section heads to enforce implementation of the required and developed procedures.
16. Any other duties assigned by the Quality Systems Manager.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• BSc Environmental Science or BSc Industrial Chemistry and any other related
• Should have knowledge of various laws, regulations, guidelines, procedures affecting a manufacturing
• 5 years of relevant experience in a similar field is required.

SKILLS AND PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCES REQUIRED

• Ability to work independently in carrying out assignments to completion
• Effective Verbal and written communication.
• Professional personal presentation
• Customer service orientation skills.
• Considerable ability to adhere to prescribed routines and practices; and compose effective and accurate correspondence.
• Dealing with non-routine matters, such as special projects, with minimum specific instructions.
• Familiarity with the tools, concepts and methodologies of management systems (QMS – 9001, FSMS – 22000, EMS – 14001 & OHSAS – 45001), HACCP and Kaizen.
• High decision making skills are required.
