REPORTS TO: Senior Data Scientist

SALARY SCALE: UBOS SP4

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Permanent

Job Summary:

Responsible for developing and maintaining appropriate IT systems for Data Science Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, for enhanced statistical production and development in line with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics mandate

Key Results Areas

1. Developing software programs/ algorithms for Big data analytics as required for statistical production;
2. Web data scrapping & correlating data for statistical purposes;
3. Transferring data into new formats to make it more appropriate for statistical analysis;
4. Supporting the Senior Data Scientist in identifying and prioritizing key areas of statistics that could benefit from Block Chain Technologies & Artificial Intelligence Solutions;
5. Providing support in software applications used in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence;
6. Any other duties as may assigned by the Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Statistics with a bias in Statistical Computing;
2. A post graduate qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology or Data Science related discipline from a recognised university, will be an added advantage;
3. Practical experience in data science and managing large statistical datasets from a credible organisation;
4. Self-drive and motivation ready to operate long hours with minimum supervision;
5. Should have obtained credit in Mathematics and English at 0′ Level.

Experience and other essential attributes

1. Ability to work effectively with other employees;
2. Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records;
3. Excellent communication & presentation skills;
4. Experience in statistical production;
5. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
