Clinical Officer – MENISCUS (01 Position)

Job Purpose:
The job holder will work with the PI, study coordinator, and other project staff on the MENISCUS (Menstrual health interventions, schooling and mental health symptoms among Ugandan students) study. This school-based cluster-randomized trial will evaluate the effectiveness of a menstrual health intervention on a range of health, educational and
wellbeing outcomes among students attending 60 Ugandan secondary schools. The trial will be conducted in Wakiso and Kalungu districts.
The clinical officer will report directly to the study coordinator. He/she will hold a key role in liaising with local clinics to ensure appropriate referral of female students with adverse effects to the intervention (e.g. from re-usable pads or menstrual cups), or those with urogenital signs or symptoms at an end line survey. The clinical officer will also be responsible for training school nurses and the implementing NGO (WoMena Uganda) regarding correct use of analgesics and menstrual materials.
The clinical officer will have a minimum of three years’ experience working in a medical
research setting preferably in a supervisory role; ideally including women health.
