General Summary
IDI’s Grants Management Unit supports the entire grants cycle from opportunity identification, to award negotiation and stewardship through to close-out. The Unit is rapidly growing and currently handles over 140 active grants (and many others in the pipeline) from multiple funders.
The SGCO (upstream) will primarily support management of the ICYD grant including communication with IDI management and multiple grant stakeholders (specific to USAID) as well as supporting programmatic and financial monitoring and reporting for funded activities and programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor progress of the ICYD project towards achievement of project goals and objectives; communicate with and report to internal and external project stakeholders including project managers and funders.
- Finance Support and Reporting: Establish and communicate financial management guidelines for the ICYD grant; enforce relevant IDI and/or USAID-specific policies and procedures; monitor project budgets; determine financial reporting needs and coordinate the reporting process with the Finance department; prepare financial reports to meet USAID requirements; communicate related information to internal and external stakeholders
- Compliance Assurance: Maintain, file and make available compliance requirements for the ICYD grant for stakeholders’ use; ensure that all aspects of project planning and execution comply with the USAID applicable regulations and with best practices; support review of funding agreements and other documentation to ensure that IDI comply with USAID and program requirements.
Person Specification
- Degree in any relevant field, including finance, accounting/audit, management or general business administration
- A minimum of three years’ professional work experience, with proven ability to interact effectively with colleagues of various backgrounds;
- Superb organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple project assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Exceptional communication skills; excellent written and oral English.
- Skill and experience in budget preparation and fiscal management.
- Advanced analytical, evaluative and objective critical thinking skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to interact at the most senior corporate, donor and academic levels and within a multi-cultural environment.
- Proficiency in computer systems including Microsoft applications; high level of skill in using MS-Excel.
- Experience in grants management (particularly related to health) and USAID donor relations is required.
- Familiarity with MS-Navision software is preferred but not required.
